Welcome to the Gild of the Freemen of York website.

We hope to make this site a valuable resource for Gild members, other Freemen of York (and elsewhere) and interested non-Freemen wherever they might live.

  • AGM - The Gild Annual General Meeting was held in Bedern Hall on Friday the 27th June 2008 at 7.30pm. Our new Master is Tom Gibson and you can read his inaugural speech here.
  • The Visitors Book is now running again - please leave us a message.
  • Tuesday 22nd July - Trip to the Hungate Dig. £1 on the day, meet at St Saviours Church at 2.00pm.
  • Booking forms are now available for forthcoming trips to St Nicholas Fields Nature Reserve and Castle Howard. These can be found on our downloads page.
  • New updates to the Past Masters of the Gild page - click here.
  • Freedom Court - This years Freedom Court was held on the 1st October 2007 at the York Guildhall.
  • 'Tom's Jottings' - Reviving an old favourite from the now defunct 'Gild News'. Available to view here.
     
  • Other recent additions to the site are entries on the Freemen Today page, Origins, and Merchandise pages, updates to the Diary page with all our forthcoming events and downloadable application forms for both becoming a Freeman of the City of York and Joining the Gild.
