The Pageant of the Donkey in York Minster - 11.00am Thursday, 30th March 2006 in the presence of Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal.

The Gild of Freemen were honoured by the Dean and Chapter of York Minster by granting permission to hold a special service in the presence of Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal.

Her Royal Highness is the Patron of the Riding For The Disabled Association, incorporating Carriage Driving, a registered Charity. The Master of the Gild has been volunteering for this Association for over thirty years.

This charity along with the York Minster Restoration Appeal, are the Master's chosen charities during her year of office.

Attendance at the service was open to all but, because of security provisions, entry was by ticket only.

The event was a great success and was held in the presence of H.R.H. The Princess Royal, four donkeys and 820 children, together with nearly a thousand other guests.

It was delightful to see how many of our fellow Freemen were able to join us. An official album of photographs from the event will be available to view at our monthly coffee mornings at Bedern Hall.
