Simon Errington Master (2004/5)

This is a profile written by a past Master of the Gild of Freemen.

'I have been a freemen for 10 years taking the heredity freedom from my Grandfather at the same time as my two brothers. I joined the court in 1998 as an assistant to provide some new blood into the running of the Gild of Freemen in York.

I will have been married to my wife Jill for 10 years on the day I take up my role as Master of the Gild, 25th June 2004. I have 2 young boys aged 5 and 3 called Benjamin and Andrew who occupy a significant amount of my time.

I work as Development Manager for the North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service based at Easingwold and York a job that I have fulfilled for one year. I have spent most of my career in the service industry working in hotels around the Country and providing to development to the Sector in the County of York and North Yorkshire.

Along with my commitment to the Gild of Freemen I am a serving Special Constable for the North Yorkshire Police Authority, based in the City of York.

I have been working on the court for the past 6 years during which time I have held the office of Beadle and Social Secretary, working to bring events to the membership of the Gild of a variety that meets all needs. During the past 4 years I have also carried out the role of Toastmaster at the Gild annual banquet.'
